Testimonials

If you work with students with special needs, you know that having the proper tools is absolutely essential particularly when teaching basic computer skills.

Standard computer programs simply do not work for individuals who have learning disabilities, dyslexia, cerebral palsy, visual impairment, missing fingers, linguistic barriers, etc.

That's why, back in the 1960's, Teachers' Institute for Special Education began to research and develop specialized programs and equipment to help disabled people gain keyboard mastery. The result is software programs and typing books that are used and praised -- by occupational therapists and teachers everywhere.

School Use

Each keyboarding program is available by grade level and designed to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of students with special needs. Also included are goals and daily lesson plans to assist you in your teaching. We understand that some individuals may not want programs by grade level. Therefore, we have also included Standard "Keyboarding for Individual Achievement" Editions that do not focus on any particular grade level.

The graphical keyboards take full advantage of assistive technology and allow new keys to be activated as the student progresses. In addition, the different guide keys allow your special need students to be on the same typing lesson as all the other students, thereby reducing embarrassment and self-consciousness.

All programs are discreet and nowhere in the programs or typing books are they identified as being for the Learning Disabled or Dyslexic.  Email us an outline of your student's hand or hands, along with the student's needs (Visually Impaired, Grade Level, etc.) and we will provide an interactive custom keyboarding program just for you.

You are urged to browse our website to learn more about the individual keyboarding programs we offer for students with special needs, and to take advantage of our ability to make custom programs.

These keyboarding programs assist educators and school systems to fulfill all mandates of the No Child Left Behind Act.
